Track 1: Learn How to Coach and Consult

Track 1: Learn How to Coach and Consult

track1

Each student identifies an area of expertise to specialize in so she can mentor her peers through  issues that she has experienced in her own life. This helps her to stand out from other life coaches and makes her marketing much, much easier.

How does this Online Life Coach Certification Training work?

The Women’s Leadership Institute for Conscious Coaching is an experiential training taught by Dr. Sunny Massad that provides practical counseling skills through the use of video, audio, workbooks, and two textbooks. Students submit homework in the way of numerous personal journal entries and notes that they take when giving their practice sessions for evaluation and feedback. They also take a 10-question self-correcting quiz at the end of each the seven modules in the Learn How to Coach and Consult Track.

Each student is personally mentored by either Dr. Sunny Massad, a retired psychologist, or by Jessie Mowry, a certified wellness counselor, depending on which faculty mentor the student chooses to work with.  The mentor  serves as a model for the student so that she can experience what it is liked to be coached and can use that experience to make her sensitive to her future coaching clients.  Your faculty mentor will do everything possible to make sure that you have everything that you need to succeed.  Students remain in regular contact with their faculty mentor through email and may request Skype, FaceTime, or telephone contact as needed.

Why do you have your students choose a specialization?

Identifying your specialization will distinguish you from all of the other coaches and consultants in your community, help potential clients to find you on online searches, and help you to identify the demographic you most feel confident working with

Our graduates draw on their own life experience to select a specialization when they take Track 2: How to Start, Run, and Market a Private Practice. Life coaches that graduate from WLICC might specialize in areas ranging from codependency, women in transition, self-esteem or even single mothering. Graduates who become consultants, on the other hand, might specialize in time management, women in business, or professional development, to name just a few possible specializations.

How long does it take to become a Certified Life Coach?

This school was specifically designed for women who don’t have time for nonsensical busywork. Our students learn how to coach others in the most efficient and effective way possible. Students can log on to access their online lessons any time, day or night, from wherever they are. Although each student moves at her own pace, some graduate in 3 months and others, who aren’t in a hurry, might take a full year.

Although this is a “go-at-your-own pace” training, we recommend that students finish Track 1 (Learn How to Coach and Consult) within 3-6 months so they can attain their life coaching certification, although students may take longer. On average, it should take a minimum of 125 hours to complete both tracks of the training: Track 1: Learn How to Coach and Consult and Track 2: How to Start, Run, and Market a Private Practice. Each of the two tracks has seven modules. Each module begins with a short introductory video followed by PowerPoint lectures. Hours include the online lectures, reading of the textbooks, preparing  homework, giving practice sessions, taking quizzes, and having one-on-one in-depth conversations with Sunny Massad through email, telephone, FaceTime, and Skype.

Because this training is designed as a practicum, most of our graduates get their businesses up and running while they are still taking Track 2, or within a few months of graduation.

How This Training Prepares You for Real World Life Coaching

I. You Can Use Your Materials in Your Private Practice

a) Textbooks Become the Reference Manuals for Your Future Practice
There are two concise textbooks for this course. These books will later serve as reference manuals that you can refer to in your practice after you graduate. Each of the textbooks are organized into 2-page sections by topic so it is easy to find what you need whenever you need to look something up before or during a session.

b) Workbook Pages Become Handouts & Exercises to Use with Clients
Many of the pages in the Workbook are designed to ultimately be used as exercises that you can share with your clients. You can also print pages to distribute as handouts that clients can take home with them.

c) You Won’t Have to Take Notes – They are Already Typed Up
You will be provided with both a hard copy Workbook and online copies of the pages from that workbook. While listening to the PowerPoint lectures by Sunny Massad you’ll have the visual on each of the pages of the Workbook, which was designed so that students don’t have to take copious notes.

d) You Can Listen From Anywhere
As you listen to the one-hour lectures in the beginning of each module, the Workbook pages being discussed will also be visible on your computer screen so that you can follow the lecture whether you are sitting with the actual hardcopy of the Workbook, with the PowerPoint, or just an audio lecture.

II. You Will Learn and Practice the UnTherapy Style of Journaling

During the first module, you will learn a personally empowering journaling that you will be able to use in your own life to counsel yourself and that you will be able to teach your clients to use, as well. As is indicated in the Course Syllabus, you will be required to submit to your faculty coach one journal entry per module.

III. You Will Give at Least 14 Practice Sessions

During each module, you will be required to email the notes from two practice sessions. Sunny Massad or Jessie Mowry will email the notes back to you with a review about what went well and what you could try next time.  Some sessions may be done on yourself, as it is useful to see how the process works in your own life, but we encourage you to give as many sessions to other people as you can. You will need to have people available to practice on although you may also use your calls to practice on Sunny Massad, if you like.

IV. The 10-Question Exams Are Not Intimidating

Unlike “left brain” learning environments that value memorization, the Women’s Leadership Institute for Conscious Coaching does not believe it is necessary to cram data into your brain and spit it back like a parrot. Our focus is on ensuring that you grasp the basic concepts and, more importantly, can gracefully execute them with clients.

You will take a simple self-correcting 10-question quiz at the end of each module and a 25-Question Final Exam. When you manage to get a 70% or higher, you proceed.

V. Distance Learning Internship with Dr. Sunny Massad or Jessie Mowry

Twice-a-month your chosen faculty mentor makes herself available to converse one-on-one with each registered student. This is an opportunity ask questions and practice your skills.

VI. You can Have a Student Practicum if You Want

You may reserve up to three appointments with Dr. Sunny Massad or Jessie Mowry to get feedback on practice sessions. Simply email your faculty mentor a request for a Skype or telephone practice session, then find a client who fits within your client specialization to coach during the call. These calls are optional and may be used for anything you like. Calls need to be completed before taking your Final Examination in Track 1.

Track 2: How to Start, Market, and Run a Private Practice is an experiential training where students transform their business vision into an actual business so they can get the help and support they might need along the way.
